Fall YARD SALE
Well, the Fall Yard Sale has now come and gone, and the results were quite a surprise given the small amount of furniture collected for this sale.
Although we had a solid first day on Thursday with over $14,000 in sales, we were still concerned with the lack of large furniture and furniture groups available for sale. Fortunately, all our furniture sales were solid, and the other departments really stepped up to the plate to pump up our sales totals each day.
Our sales on Friday, which is typically a fairly slow day were very good, reaching over $12,000, and bringing our total up to $29,688 when including our $2,500 in pre-sales. Breathing a sigh of relief, we knew that we would meet and beat our budget for the event at that point.
Saturday was a somewhat average day, with people coming in to look for special deals and discounts on the last day of the sale. We are happy to report that we collected another $11,000 on our final day, running our total gross sales just over $41,000. This amount was well beyond our expectations for this event and helps us restore our reserves, which had been reduced by the expenses related to the installation of our new storage building.
A big thank you to the many, many volunteers who helped with the event over the past week, and the community members who donated materials to the sale. Thanks also to the ladies who orchestrated the Christmas in July sale that generated over $800 to helped boost our pre-sales numbers.
A huge thank you to the CNATT operations at Cherry Point and New River that provided over 75 volunteers during the week, which really helped breaking out our inventory on Tuesday, making deliveries each day, and breaking down the sale on Saturday. Without them, this would be a much more difficult task!!
All of our volunteers deserve a well-earned break over the next two weeks, with operations and pickups resuming on Monday, October 21.
Next sale is on February 6 - 8, with our sales bolstered by the sale of the boat that our Ralph Aviles will be prepping for sale after he returns from his Red Cross duties in Asheville.
